Born Again Brazilian

Why Born Again Brazilian?
If all those repentant criminals, addicts and all around sinners can transform themselves into God-fearing Christians, this midwestern babe can become a Brazilian.

Brazilian Challenge Day 95: Community Parenting

Today, walking with my daughter home from school, a lady decided to make a comment, give a warning actually, because my daughter was walking on her toes.
The funny thing is that her cousin actually has a problem that caused him to walk on his toes. He has to wear big plastic boots when he is sleeping. My daughter doesn't have this problem. However, thanks to the MIL, my husband gives her a hard time when she walks on her toes. And you can probably guess what happens when you give a 4-year-old an unnecessary hard time about something... they do whatever it is you are concerned about as much as they can when you are not looking.

Documenting the road to becoming Brazilian...

CBD Award
As regular readers of my blog know, I’ve documented my discovery of a strange phenomenon here in Brazil – the creepy baby doll.
Well, fellow Brazil blogger Shelley of Give Us This Day Our Daily Mango wins the Creepy Baby Doll Award for this find:

So many questions for the creators of this creature.
Why the accurate anatomy? Why the strange wrinkles. Why the dark hair? (Brazilians love their baby dolls with blonde or red hair.)
Congrats Shelley.

BAB Easter vs. BAC Easter

For those of you who read my blog on a regular basis, you know that it is not about religion. Born Again Brazilian refers to my efforts to become more Brazilian, not more Christian (though becoming more Christian isn't a bad thing... depending on your definition and if you really do it).
However, I know that the title of my blog leads to some disappointment. And I hate to disappoint. (Just FYI - the misdirection has also led to some friendships as well.) But for those of you who signed up with me for the sole purpose of having another BA buddy, I find it only fair to point out how different a Born Again Brazilian and a Born Again Christian celebrate today's holiday.
Here is what we've done so far on this year's Easter.

Juquehy
Who says Sao Paulo doesn’t have a beach? Well, maybe not the city, but the state can claim a shoreline that makes for a nice weekend getaway.

We indulged in an ocean view on Juquehy beach. About two hours from the center of the city, Juquehy, or Juqueí has the natives probably called it, is part of the city of São Sebastião, SP and a string of beaches that range from Jureia to Paúba.
